If you are a passionate and committed professional and want to make a lasting difference for children, the world's leading children's rights organization would like to hear from you. UNICEF seeks a Chief, Child Protection, L-5 to be based in its UNICEF Somalia Support Centre in Nairobi, Kenya

Under the overall guidance of the Deputy Representative, you will manage the UNICEF supported Communication, HIV/AIDS Empowerment and Participation (CHEP) programme.

This includes direct responsibility for delivering results expected from the Child Protection, HIV/AIDS, Community Development and Adolescents Participation components.

You will be accountable for the development, design, planning, implementation and management of the programme within the Somalia Country Programme.

Provide expert advice, analysis and technical support to the Country Programme on policies, programmes and legislative and operational strategies.

As head of section, you will direct, lead and manage a group of professional and support staff to develop, manage and administer the inter-sectoral project/programme.

Your profile:

- Advanced university degree in social sciences or a related technical field.
- Eight years progressively, responsible professional work experience at the national and international levels in programme planning and management in a related field, with emphasis on strategic planning.
- Current knowledge of human rights and humanitarian law issues, policies and international standards.
- Knowledge of the latest developments and technology in related fields.
- Proven ability to conceptualize, plan and manage programmes, as well as to impart knowledge and teach skills.
- Leadership, supervisory and managerial skills.
- Good analytical, negotiation, communication and advocacy skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and establish harmonious and effective working relationships both within and outside the organization.
- Computer skills, including internet navigation and various office applications.
- Fluency in English and another UN language required.
Knowledge of the local working language of the duty station is an asset
