Clinical Psychologist - OSCAR’s Health and Well-Being Project

The Orphaned and Separated Children’s Assessments Related (OSCAR) to their Health and Well-Being Project is a 5 year cohort study examining the influence of care environment on the health and well-being of orphaned and separated children in greater Uasin Gishu region.

Applications are invited from qualified candidates for the following vacant position.

Clinical Psychologist
(1 Post)

Role: Be responsible for conducting psychosocial assessments and delivering interventions for the project. These shall include standardized assessments of children’s psychosocial health and family history, and providing referrals and support as required.

Duties and responsibilities

Reporting to Principal Investigators of the OSCAR project at the AMPATH Centre in Eldoret, the successful candidate will implement psychosocial assessments for OSCAR participants at both the MTRH site and in the field.

This will include the following:
Carry out psychosocial assessments at the MTRH/field site and any other site as may be directed.
Co-ordinate and implement all project-related psychosocial services at MTRH and field sites.
Provide referrals for psychiatric and other medical care as appropriate.
Promote efficiency and high standards of psychological care.
Develop intervention programs and activities that improve psychological care in the respective sites.
Manage resources for optimum operations within the sites.
Participate in the professional guidance and training of staff to ensure highest standards of healthcare at the sites.
Ensure Quality Assurance and Control both in data collection and Good Clinical Practices.
Any other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate must posses:-
Masters degree in clinical psychology from a recognized university.
Have done significant work in paediatrics, psychiatry, and adolescent care in the recent past.
Excellent verbal communication skills in Kiswahili and English.
Demonstrated excellence in psychosocial care.
Demonstrated abilities in leadership, problem-solving, and project coordination.
Terms of Employment

The successful candidate will be employed on a 1-year renewable contract terms with a competitive salary and allowances.

A pharmacy in Narok is urgently looking for a Pharmacy Assistant.

Duties and Responsibilities.
Engage in promotion and marketing of our range of products and achieve objectives.
Implement the strategies designed for marketing and promotion in total. This will include:
Maintaining Master customer database.
Ensuring required customer service & care at all times
Distribute promotional material judiciously. and always asking customers to refer others to us.
Maintaining proper stock levels for products in the Pharmacy. i.e
To update the list of products out of stock and also those which will be required by customers from time to time follow up for their purchase & payments. You would be required to adhere to established terms and conditions of dealing with the customers.
Market survey through intelligence.
To assist in planning and organizing any other beneficial activity to our customers on regular basis.
To establish and maintain good relationships with customers which includes Clinics, Doctors, Hospitals and other institutions.
To prepare and submit reports daily on sales undertaken and achievement to the management as required.
Requirements

The position is challenging and calls for a dynamic, confident, aggressive out of the box thinker with the following attributes;
Aged below 30 years.
At least a Certificate or Diploma in Pharmacy.
Experience in a similar position, preferably in a busy retail pharmacy is an advantage.
Form 4 leavers with more than 3 years working experience in a busy retail set up will be considered.
Preference will be given to applicants with fluency in the local maasai language.
Strong negotiation and customer care skills.
Ability to diagnose conditions and prescribe drugs over the counter is a must.
Personal Attributes:
High level of motivation, integrity, commitment and professional responsibility.
Ability to tolerate cultural, educational and religious diversity in the work place;
Ability to work for long hours with minimal supervision.
Good team player with excellent interpersonal communication skill.
Have shown demonstrable professional competence in a retail pharmacy set up.
Excellent verbal and written skills.
Ability to work independently, meticulous and details oriented.
