Food Security and Livelihoods Verification Officer

Food Security and Livelihoods Verification Officer (I Position in Lira District)
Action Against Hunger (ACF) is an international NGO implementing nutrition, water, sanitation, hygiene promo­tion food security, and livelihood programs with vulnerable populations in Acholi (Amuru and Gulu), Lango (Lira and Oyarn), and Karamoja (Kaabong and Moroto). ACF is seek­ing experienced professionals to join its team as Food Security and Livelihoods Verification Officer in Lira Town, Lira District


TASKS and RESPONSIBILITIES


1. Development of Suitable food security monitoring sys-
* Participate in the development of field data collection tools,
* Contribute to the organisation of programme ing and reporting systems.
* Participate in the planning of monitoring activi
the Data Technician and Food Security Livelihood Program Manager


2.Verification and quality assurance.


* Verify participant vetting process,
* Monitor post distribution monitoring, grants r and use.
3. Support data management

» Data analysis and presentation accc formats
* Liaise with Food Security Livelihood Program Manager to ensure that programme indicators, monitoring for­mats, databases, data analysis, and reporting are maintained and harmonised.


Support household targeting and verification of pro­gramme participation according to established criteria Support in the facilitation of individual household action hold progress.

2. Organizational representation:
* Explain program activities to stake holders and partici­pants as appropriate.
» Participate in external and internal coordination meet­ings in the absence of the FSL PM as required.
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
REQUIRED.
Academics: Degree in Economies, Rural development,
business or related subjects.
Experience: Three years related work experience
Language skills: Excellent written and spoken English,
Fluency in Luo.
Computer skills: Intermediate (MS Word, Excel and
Outlook).


Other skills:


* Previous work experience with ACF.
» Experience in Community Development programming, preferably with income generating activities or house­hold livelihoods.
* Knowledge of marketing, micro-economics and
* Experience in developing training materials and facilitat­ing workshop.
» Experience with participatory fieldwork methodologies » Team management, project implementation, analytical, monitoring and reporting skills
* Excellent knowledge of local area (agricultural prac­tices, seasons, seed varieties, cultural habits, geographic area of assignment - including road and village locations) Requirements: Frequent travel to the field.

Food Security and Livelihoods Field Assistants (7 Positions ! in Otuke County, Lira District)
Action Against Hunger {ACF) is an international NGO impfementing nutrition, water, sanitation, hygiene promotion food security, and livelihood programs with vulnerable populations in Acholi (Amuru and Gulu), Lango (Lira and Oyam), and Karamoja (Kaabong and Moroto). ACF is seeking experienced professionals to join its team as Food Security and Livelihoods Field Assistants in Otuke County, Lira District.


KEYTASKS and RESPONSIBILITIES


1. Assist with the implementation of food security and livelihood programme activities at field level:
» Assist in community identification and mobilisa­tion process for programme activities
* Support household targeting and verification of programme participation according to estab­lished criteria
* Support in the facilitation of individual house­hold action planning, specifically relating to agri­culture and income generating activities
* Participate in training
* Support programme monitoring and individual household progress
+ Adhere to proper application and use of all pro­gramme methodologies (targeting, mobilisation, planning, verification, monitoring, reporting)
» Monitor and contribute to analysis of evolving seasonal issues affecting food security, liveli­hoods, and programme performance
2. Organization representation:

* Act as a link between ACf and programme participants

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED.


Academics: UCE Certificate with Credit pass in Principles and Practice of Agriculture mandato­ry; Certificate in Agriculture, Business manage­ment or other relevant fields preferred.
Experience: Two years related work experience
Language: Fluency in English and Luo required {written and spoken)


Other skills:


* Good basic mathematics and writing skills; o Good communication skills oAttention to detail and adherence to systems; o Excellent knowl­edge of local area (culture, livelihoods, communi­ty structures, road and village locations); o Understanding of food security and livelihoods theoretical concepts; o Familiarity with participa­tory fieldwork methodologies. Preference: Resident of Otuke County, Lira district.

Livestock Expert

Organisation InformationCOOPI has been active in North Darfur since 2004 in two sectors: Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL) and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), mainly implementing activities in remote and underserved rural areas.

Areas of intervention in North Darfur are the northern localities of Mellit and Malha and the south-eastern localities of Um Kadadah, Al Tawisha and Al Lait.

COOPI interventions aim at mitigating the impact of recent crisis on marginalized rural households affected by conflict, recurrent droughts, environmental degradation and with very limited access to basic service provision, protecting/enhancing livelihoods of communities and restoring/preserving basic standards of water provision for the target groups.

Overall purpose of COOPI program intervention is to contribute to reduce vulnerability of Darfur populations, enhancing food security and livelihoods assets and improving access to safe water and improved hygiene practices.

Main donors and partners of COOPI in Sudan are ECHO, FAO, UNICEF and the Common Humanitarian Fund (CHF).

COOPI implements interventions in cooperation with national and local Government authorities, in particular with Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Animal Resources, WES and the State Drinking Water Corporation.

At the moment COOPI is recruiting a qualified Livestock Expert to help coordinating COOPI Food Security and Livestock Interventions in North Darfur, mainly funded by the DG of the European Commission for Humanitarian Aid - ECHO.

The project main activities are; an animal treatment campaign (vaccinations), CAHWs training and awareness raising, drugstores setting and goats redistribution.

Responsibilities

Responsibility of designing, managing and implementing the livestock sector activities and results in the frame of COOPI North Darfur Programme

Close monitoring of project activities in the program implementation areas

To ensure the implementation of the project activities according with the implementation schedule.

To maintain ordinary contacts with institutional and operational interlocutors involved in the project.
To take part to sector meetings

To supervise and monitoring tasks and activities carried out by the personnel working in the project.

To put into practice on the job training for the personnel operating in the project.

To assure that during the project implementation support document are created, timely collected and analysed

To submit, on monthly base, work progress report to the Project manager

Minimum requirements

University Degree in Veterinary
A minimum of three years of relevant working experience in the field;
Fluency in English language.
Computer literate.
The knowledge of ECHO procedures will be an added value

Position Details:
Duty station: North Darfur, Sudan El Fasher base and implementing areas
Entry on duty: 15 June
Duration: 6 months (renewable)
