Research and Human Rights Monitoring Officer - Legal and Human Rights Centre, Tanzania

The Legal and Human Rights Centre (referred to herein by its acronym as LHRC is a not-for-profit, non-partisan and non-governmental human rights organisation founded and registered in 1995 envisioning a just and equitable society. The Centre is hereby inviting applicants to fill the following vacancies of Programme Officers in accordance with the terms and conditions stipulated herein below:

Reports To: Director of Capacity Building and Empowerment
Duty Station: LHRC Head Office

JOB PURPOSE

The Research and Human Rights Monitoring Officer will be responsible to manage the activities of the research and Human Rights Monitoring Unit of the Legal and Human Rights Centre under the supervision of the Director of Capacity Building and Empowerment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

(i) To prepare of annual work plans.
(ii) To Implement and supervise the plans.
(iii) To follow up human rights violation in the country.
(iv) To document the incidences of human rights violation in Tanzania
(v) To analyse data and compily annual Human Rights Report
(vi) To prepare and maintain human rights monitor data base
(vii) To Coordinate communications of human rights monitors in the Country
(viii) To train and facilitate the monitoring of human rights violations.
(ix) To prepare activities, quarterly, annual and donor reports.
(x) To Write and prepare publication materials
(xi) To Coordinate and supervise the centres researches.
(xii) To proof read and supervise the quality of the centres publications.
(xiii) To write and supervise the preparation of the Tanzania Human Rights Report annually.
(xiv) Do any other duties and assignments for the fulfillment of the centres vision, mission and objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

(i) First degree in Law from a recognised University.
(ii) Masters Degree in Social Sciences will be an added advantage.
(iii) At least three (3) years working experience in an non-governmental and non-profit making organization
(iv) Certificate in computer studies (word processing/spreadsheets/data base)
(v) Knowledge in Human Rights
(vi) Gender Awareness

REMUNERATIONS; Negotiable

(i) 3 years working experience in a human rights organization

Monitoring and Evaluation Advisor

Management Sciences for Health (MSH) is a nonprofit international health organization with nearly 1,700 staff from more than 60 nations. Our mission is to save lives and improve the health of the world’s poorest and most vulnerable people by closing the gap between knowledge and action in public health.

MSH is currently seeking qualified professional Sudanese Nationals and Third Country Nationals (TCNs) interested in potential employment on a three (3) year project - on Sudan Health Transformation Project II (SHTP II) at the country level – Juba, South Sudan.

Monitoring and Evaluation Advisor

The Monitoring & Evaluation Advisor, LTTA (Long-term Technical Assistant) will serve as the principal advisor on Monitoring and Evaluations-related issues to the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the SHTP II Project.

This includes providing advice on the development of new tools and approaches for Monitoring and Evaluations (M&E), consolidation of existing tools, design of special studies, data collection, analysis, and capacity building needs.

S/he will be responsible for building the capacity of local staff within the MOH, the County Health Departments (CHD) and SHTP II, thus ensuring sustainability of these efforts.

The Monitoring & Evaluation Advisor, LTTA will be seconded to and will work closely with the MOH in the achievement of designated tasks.

The ideal candidate will possess graduate qualifications in a relevant discipline with extensive experience in managing project M&E efforts. She / He will demonstrate skills in data management, evaluation, research, experimental and quasi experimental design and methods for measuring project and organizational performance against identified goals.

Candidates with an extensive practical field experience across a broad range of programmatic areas including, HIV/AIDS, Maternal and Child Health, Water and Sanitation, Infectious Diseases and Family Planning are preferred.

Applicants must have strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to interact professionally and build capacity among colleagues from culturally diverse backgrounds and in different settings. She / He must be able to undertake extensive domestic travel.

Accountant

The Accountant is responsible for assisting the Finance Manager with safeguarding the assets (financial and physical) of MSH and ultimately the U.S. Government or other donors against fraud, loss or misuse.

The Accountant is responsible for ensuring that any money expended in the field is done in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, MSH policy, and any cost principles imposed by the donor agency.

The Accountant is aware of, and adheres to, MSH’s procurement integrity standards in all activities.

Applicants will possess a minimum of a University Degree in Accounting or equivalent certification with at least 2 years relevant experience. Accounting experience on USG funded projects desired. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and the ability to use QuickBooks required.
