Job Title: Programme Assistants (Monitoring & Evaluation)
Post Grade: G4 (Service Contract) Duty Station: Various locations in Kenya
Accountabilities: Under the supervision of the Field Monitor Assistant, the Programme Assistant (M&E) will be responsible for monitoring and evaluation activities in the district.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
· Working in close collaboration with the WFP Field Monitor Assistant, plan for distribution and post distribution monitoring activities in the district;
· Train the district level (CLP) enumerators in collaboration with the Field Monitor Assistant before commencing field work. This must be done thoroughly to minimize errors during data collection. Any new CLP staff participating in post distribution monitoring must be trained.
· Organise logistics for travel within the district with the help of the Field Monitor Assistant;
· Collect and collate data at distribution sites, community and household levels and markets;
· Check through all questionnaires at the end of each data collection day to ensure quality;
· Assemble completed questionnaires, check that they are properly completed before processing. Any questionnaires that have not been completed correctly should be returned to the responsible enumerator;
· Enter all the data in to the MS Access database;
· Conduct regular quality checks during data entry, ensuring clarity, accuracy and consistency;
· Facilitate timely provision of data/information to the Field Monitor/Nairobi for analysis and report writing;
· Provide backstopping for the Field Monitor Assistant in responding to other programming tasks in addition to monitoring.
Qualifications and Experience:
Essential: Successful completion of secondary school education (KCSE) plus additional education in statistics, social services, nutrition, agriculture or other related field.
Desirable: University degree in statistics, social sciences, economics, nutrition or other related field.
Experience: At least three years' progressively responsible work experience including at least one year in the field of food aid management, nutrition, data collection, community work, agriculture or other related field.
Knowledge: Training and/or experience in using computers including Word, Excel and other software used by WFP.
Strong inter-personal skills; courtesy, tact and the ability to work and communicate effectively with people of different national and cultural backgrounds. Ability to interpret and analyse a wide variety of programme issues and statistical information, and to maintain accurate and precise records. Ability to work systematically, use initiative, good judgement and to communicate complex matters both orally and in writing; proven ability to work in a team environment and achieve common goals.
Language: Good written and spoken English and fluent Kiswahili.
