Global Assurance Associate

Plan has programs in 12 countries in the Region.

This position will be located in Nairobi Kenya and will report to the Global Assurance Manager for the Region of Eastern and Southern Africa (RESA).

The Global Assurance Associate will undertake assignments to help provide assurance on the effectiveness of controls and management of risks within Plan, to influence and facilitate change and to contribute towards exchange of learning within the organization.

The job requires extensive travel within program areas in East & Southern Africa and occasionally outside the region.

This position based in Kenya open to Kenya nationals only.

Key responsibilities

- Preparation of work programmes for individual assurance assignments, reviews and investigations, or operates to work programmes prepared by others
- Undertake financial and/or operational assignments, and ad hoc investigations (e.g. into frauds) and reviews (e.g. in relation to new systems development)
- Working with other Global Assurance (GA) team members and facilitation of risk workshops
- Assist the Assurance Manager in monitoring actions taken by management following reviews
- Develop and deliver workshops, training and presentations as required in technical and non-technical areas
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Contributes to the body of learning and experience within GA and across Plan

Qualifications, experience and skills:

- Bachelors degree
- Professional internal auditing and/or accounting qualification and/or experience in development sector
- Minimum two years’ auditing experience (internal and/or external)
- Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of accounting and auditing and of the requirements
- Speaks, reads and writes English fluently.

Knowledge of French or Arabic will be an added advantage
- Analytical, strong negotiation and influencing skills
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal close supervision
