Deputy Director: English Language

Total salary package: R378 456 per annum. This all-inclusive remuneration package consists of a basic salary, the State’s contribution to the Government Employees Pension Fund and a flexible portion that may be structured in terms of the applicable rules. The successful candidate will be required to sign a performance contract

Requirements:



* Applicants must be in possession of at least a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification, with English as a major subject
* Postgraduate qualifications in English will be added advantages
* Experience in a management position
* Experience in English language training
* Exposure to international relations, some knowledge of Political Science or Development Studies, as well as a Moderator’s Certificate, will be recommended.

Duties:

* Implement the language training policy of the Diplomatic Academy
* Manage English language training
* Manage assessment processes for English language training
* Translate and interpret research
* Perform research on computer-assisted language learning and oversee the implementation of the computer-assisted language learning programme
* Comply with legislative and other directives
* Liaise and consult with internal and external stakeholders
* Assist in managing the human and financial resources of the Directorate
* Co-ordinate English language proficiency assessments
* Develop innovative English language training material.


Note: Applicants will be expected to contribute to the teaching of English in DIRCO and must be willing to undergo a language proficiency test/exercise.
