International Governance Advisor

Location: United Republic of Tanzania - Dar Es Salam

Job tasks include:
- Provide technical assistance and advice to Thematic Team on Building Local Democracy and Building Local Democracy partner organizations on the implementation of their MS Tanzania supported projects.
- Provide technical assistance and advice to Programme Management of MS Tanzania on implementation of the Country Programme Strategy.
- Contribute actively to development of proposals for upscale of MS Tanzania and partners’ work on demand side (civil society) Governance at district level.
- Contribute actively to MS ActionAid Denmark as a learning organization

Required qualifications:
- Minimum 8 years of relevant post graduate work experience
- Strong knowledge of and professional experience with Building Local Democracy.
- Knowledge and experience from working on Land Rights and Youth would be an added advantage
- Strategic, political and analytical skills
- Strong in planning, organization, coordination and logical framework approach
- Minimum of 5 years working experience from developing countries
- Strong knowledge of and experience with methodologies and practical tools used in social accountability and political empowerment work in civil society
- Strong experience with designing and monitoring programmes, including reporting to donors
- Good understanding of history, politics, society and development in Tanzania
- Profound knowledge of development issues, strategies and approaches
- Experience from working on decentralization processes
- Hands on/field experience from programme implementation and profound understanding of the advisory role
- Motivated and driven by a strong sense of solidarity and commitment to democracy and poverty reduction
- Training and facilitation skills
- Strong cooperation skills
- Flexibility, tolerance and patience
