The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is one of the largest humanitarian agencies in the world, providing relief, rehabilitation and post-conflict reconstruction support to conflict affected populations.
IRC has worked for over seven decades and today is involved in 25 war impacted countries in the world.
We address both the immediate, life saving needs of conflict affected people in an emergency and the reconstruction needs in post conflict societies.
IRC is committed to a culture of bold leadership, innovation in all aspects of our work, creative partnerships and accountability to those we serve.
The IRC is an international agency with offices in London, New York, and Geneva. The IRC currently has programs addressing the needs of children and young people in conflict and post conflict situations in 25 countries around the globe.
They include formal and non-formal education, reintegration of former child soldiers, child protection, care, tracing and family reunification of separated children, and livelihood and life skills for adolescents.
All of the various programs respond in ways that explicitly recognize and promote the psychosocial wellbeing of conflict-affected children.
Education is the program through which we address the needs of the vast majority of children in most IRC programs.
