Programme Officer

At MAG (Mines Advisory Group), we deliver practical and positive solutions that assist the process of peace building in both conflict and post-conflict countries.
During the past 15 years we have safely found, removed and destroyed millions of landmines, small and large bombs, missiles and other tools of armed conflict.
By freeing up millions of acres of land we are the precursor to the development and economic growth of conflict-affected countries throughout the Middle East, South East Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe.
This is an excellent opportunity to work in an established programme which now has 180 national and 8 international staff.
The MAG Angola programme is looking to consolidate its position in Angola and to strengthen and develop its national capacity.
Mine action in Angola is critical to the ongoing efforts to reconstruct and rehabilitate a country devastated by years of conflict.Reporting to the Country Programme Manager, the Programme Officer’s role involves a wide range of responsibilities including proposal and report writing, grant administration and information management.
The role also involves providing administrative support to the programme. You will therefore need some previous experience in these areas of work.
In addition the successful candidates will have experience of working overseas, preferably within the region, and be able to demonstrate the ability to work independently.
The ability to produce written material of a high quality and prioritize a heavy workload to meet deadlines is essential. You will also need to be able to demonstrate awareness of personal security, cultural sensitivities and a diplomatic manner.
Portuguese language skills would be advantageous for this role, though not essential.
The salary for this role is £22,792 - £24,906 per annum, plus accommodation and per diem.
