Applications are solicited from suitably qualified individuals to fill the position of Financial Officer (FO).

Uganda Development Trust (UDET) is an NGO which provides consultancy services directly to grassroots groups and SMEs. UDET works in response to project proposals received from indigenous communities, groups, cooperatives and SMEs.

The Financial Officer reports directly to the Program Director in Kampala. The FO serves as the Financial Officer with primary responsibility for all aspects of financial management of UDET's Country Program, both for local office administration and program/project activities.

Duties:

• Assists the Program Director(PD) to formulate the annual budget for the Organization

• Establishes and maintains required accounting journals and ledgers
• Prepares all financial reports, records, and correspondence.
• Assists the PD and Financial and Monitoring Officer to provide accounting and financial management training to ADF Grantees
• Assists the PD and Financial Monitoring Officer to ensure the accurate, timely submission of all grantee disbursement requests and financial reports.
• Maintains computerized spreadsheets to track office financial reporting information. Desired

Qualifications and Experience:

• Professional accounting, financial management or related degree, or CPA equivalency.
• Three (3) years minimum professional, development-related work experience.
• Knowledge of institutional capacity of community - based groups, as demonstrated by accounting and financial management work experience with such groups.
• Knowledge of local training resources to develop financial management capacity of grassroots groups.
• Demonstrated ability to formulate and manage budgets, including maintenance of accounts, report preparation, and accounts reconciliation.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Automated Date
• Processing technology, and experience with Excel, Pastel or equivalent software.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively to provide effective financial management skills and services to a broad " spectrum of colleagues and clients.
• Good working knowledge of written and spoken English and two or more local languages.
• Driver's License and willingness to travel frequently to rural areas.
